Urrutia Workshop

Audio is in Spanish, my brother and I talk about how we found the broken robot and how we bought a newer one.

My little fictional workshop where I gather easter eggs from previous cg projects such as Geralt's sword, Spidey's suit, Hellboy's hand and some other easter eggs for future projects!

Props! My brother Xabier Urrutia helped to model some things: screwdrivers, Spider-Mug, demon rock and also his character Fetcher from his award winning student short film. Next to it, Adriana Urigüen's model. I had to retexture them both as figurines.

Some other props, Hellboy and A.I.D.P books were scanned and sent by Josu Martín, you might recognise them from the bg of one of his works.

This is the video I used to track my cg camera, which then I animated in 3dmax

Here's the tracked camera, after some animation. There is a bit too much of a flicker in the final render that I saw after rendering, took very long to render so I decided to go ahead with it.

Originally started as an exercise to see how fast I could build something like a small robot in 3d. I started modelling the robot and then made the textures. I was able to make it in something more than a week. The design was quite random and the shape was done like that just because it was a repetition of pieces, but it worked! It was fast and nice!
However... then I started to think on how to show the model, and that's where this project became so long, I was trying to create a little workshop and fill it with stuff. It's quite difficult to think of the kind of everyday things that make one place look alive and not just cg.
I then recorded some different audios and downloaded some from the internet and tried to mix them to make it sound like bussy and unproffesional.
I started this in 2018 and from time to time I went back to it to fill the workshop with stuff. But long render times have been a clear obstacle for this to see the light. I'm glad I can finally upload it!
